There is only so far you can go to beat time when it comes to caring for skin through good skin nutrition. Your genes will eventually lead to the dna in your skin cells faulting and wrinkles starting to appear. If you have money saved away then there are other options to keep a youthful glowing skin complexion.
botox
Botox correctly termed is called botulinum toxin type A. It is available only by prescription in most countries and is given to patients via an injection. It works by interrupting the nerve impulses inside muscles in the face, Usually the in the frown or underneath eyes where wrinkles are most common. It basically paralyses the muscle and when the muscle begins to relax, the fine lines and wrinkles begin to smooth out. The treatment can last anywhere from two to seven days in most cases, and can cost upwards from £200.00. The long term side effects are still unknown as the treatment is quite knew but common side effects can range from headaches to bruising in rare cases. To prevent bruising it is recommended that you do not drink alcohol soon after application.
skin laser resurfacing
laser resurfacing works by destroying the first layer of the skin and then heating the dermis of the skin to from new and less wrinkled skin which is smooth to touch. The laser is light radiation delivered intensely to the area of skin that needs improving. It can also be used for acne, skin pigmentation defects, port wine and spider stains. Dark skin types are not recommended for this procedure due to the effect it has on the skin pigments color. The laser treatment is done under a local anesthetic while a laser beam is passed over the affected area with precision care. after the treatment you will be given an anti-biotic ointment to make sure that the area does not get infected and it is recommended that you stay away from sunlight. This option should first be discussed with your GP.
Face lift
Face lifts although the more expensive option, can last up to ten years. You will be expected to stay in hospital for two to three nights as the procedure is done under general anesthetic. Depending on the technique used you can expect the operation to last over two hours and usually no more than four. There may be a considerable amount of pain afterward the anesthetic wears off, which is why you need to stay around for a while after and you will need someone to take you home. Elevating your head as much as you can for the first week will reduce swelling and keeping out of the sun is a must. Other than bruising you may see scaring for up to a year but with a good surgeon is minimal and not very visible. Again seeing your GP first is very advisable before taking on this kind of treatment.
